thank you for the unexpected

as one quickly puts something on the back burner and then kinda forgets that she (me) really did put something on the back burner and then lost it. not just buried under a stack of papers. not just buried in a text message that is so far up the cue that yeah, does one ever look that far up in a conversation. and finally not just buried in an e-mail and one that was't deleted whether on purpose or not. but frankly just lost.

but today (well a couple of days ago now) one of those things lost on one of those back burners came back to say hello..i'm here!

context here: as hubby dearest was at the airport waiting for his flight when he noticed something that he had helped to make (he does all of the gluing for me but we can wait for this story another day).

there he was seeing moving across the large screen was art from the GNWT Micro Business SEED Program (Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development) funding.

context here: i know that one evening i had been called to the basement of the museum on a very cold and wintery day to have photos taken by the NWT Arts Council. so off i went with sprinkles on my cheeks and wearing my most favourite purple dress (i chose for the company an eggplant shade of purple, over time this colour has definitely toned down).

against a blaring white background i had pictures taken of me from front ways, side ways, pretending to hold something, actually holding something and then all the way down to my faerie going through the same flurry of shots here are 4 photos of us.

back to what hubby had found..

as my iPhone beeped telling me that i had a new message and there was me! me on the big screen (so to speak)!

context here: hubby was sending me picture after picture..and then i called to ask if they could be larger, be smaller, be sharper...

in the end i was amazed at the amazing job under the circumstances as from my understanding the photos were in an exchange style of transition so catching the different photos was quite the challenge.

so here you go, me, well at least Aurora of the Northern Line of Faeries on the big screen.

It's the Little Things that Count

I so fell in love with the little tree that I had added as an extra to Faerie Boreal of the Northern Line of Faeries that I just had to do the same for all of the other Faeries.

Now I haven't gotten around to taking photos of the Faeries with their extras yet but here are the items that they will have.

Faerie Aurora with her dreamcatcher....

Faerie Boreal with her pine tree....

Faerie Midnight Sun with her sun charm....

Faerie Raven with her raven....

Faerie Snowflake with her snowflake....

Faerie Agua with her water drop....

For those of you that have already purchased a Northern Faerie and you would like to have her accompanying extra, please let me know and I will send you one from the Nursery at no charge.

The New Sophisticated Look

Yay! My rubber stamp order came in from Custom Stamp & Engraving Ltd.

These stamps are mainly for the packaging of the Northern Faerie Line. I wanted to keep this box clean, simple but sophisticated. I am not sure if I will re-order the Kraft Pinstripe style of boxes or whether I will go with a colour and I haven't really done much research yet but will definitely need to decide soon.

The smaller Generation 1 faeries have a cubed box that is 4x4x4 inches in diameter. I have always put my company name and the larger icon stamp around the outside. On the top of the lid, there are 4 jewelled flat back gems and then it is tied off with two strands of raffia (purple and gold {the gold was one of my original colours for the company until I changed it to green as gold was too hard to find in tissue paper and other packaging items}). I loved the fun look to this style of packaging.

The original packaging for the Northern Faerie Line was quite similar to the smaller Generation 1 style. The box of course is larger being 4x4x6 inches in size. I did not include tying it off with raffia though.

The Northern Faerie Line has a more grown-up look and feel to it. As these faeries are being promoted as collectables - collect the whole line idea - I wanted boxes that looked the part. I'm very happy with the outcome.

Now, I have had to blur out some of the wording as those faeries have not yet been released. The winner of the Northern Faerie for being my 1000th visitor to 'like' my Facebook page did choose a faerie that will not be released until the end of the year and this is her packaging.

So, what do you think??

The Great Separation Project!!

Well, after about 2 months of separating they are all done!

Once the decision was made to start the new line of Northern Faeries I started ordering flowers specifically for them. I think my first order went in the final week of November and I stopped ordering December 31, 2013. The last batch of flowers arrived on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 and they have now been taken apart as well.

A massive thank you goes out to Hubby, Ryan and Amanda (Noon) for all of their help.

In the end, there was 1545 flower heads in total that needed to be taken apart. Now being that I like things really taken apart, each flower is broken down by size and colour and placed into individual baggies. Yes...that is a LOT of baggies.

So keep in mind that all of these flowers are dedicated to the Northern Faerie Line. There are currently 6 that are available for sale and another 6 that are either completed or are in the process of designing.

I took pictures from all around the table and then from above!

That's a whole lot of flower petals!!

Small Business Big Wishes

Intuit QuickBooks is granting 11 wishes to small businesses through their Love Our Local Business - Small Business Big Wishes program.

I just entered the Enchanted Pathways Faerie Nursery to be eligible to win their grand prize of  $15,000.00!!

This is what I wished for...

"I would love to be able to go into the retail market. My wish list is to work with a designer to have a 3D cardboard display case designed for my Northern Faerie Line. I would like to have the back and the two sides done with my companies theme, a dark purple sky with funky curly green grasses and climbing purple roses, and then have little toadstools for stands for my faeries to be display on. This will allow my products to have a more professional look and feel in order to be considered a 'handmade product' and not a 'homemade product'."

If you get a chance, sure would love your support by casting your vote for my little nursery by clicking here...Small Business Big Wishes
