Continuity using the 'White Theme'

So to start off the New Year... the Nursery has a NEW look for all of its printed materials.

I'm calling it 'The White Theme'!!

This new line covers two styles of business cards, thank you cards, disclaimer cards, gift cards, guardianship cards and magnets. All of which I did on a white backdrop and using the company's coloured flower icon. I opted to go with sizing down the letterhead design which I think worked really well to tie in the font colour and to add a bit of a garden theme since I took away the stump and rose vines (see Blog banner above). Oh, and there was a new one added in the mix this time around - the 'A Little Something Extra Just for You' card. As I always like to give little trinkets away with each sale, I thought that this card would do the job perfectly.

Since I changed over the website, Blog and all other social media sites last year (2017) to using a white background, finishing off this project completes the look of continuity throughout the company.

A massive thank you goes out to Sherry (Elite Business Services Ltd.) who created our updated QR code and again to VistaPrint who did an outstanding job again.

So, what do you think? Do you like the clean white look?

Googling Yourself!

A happily found accident??

As the Nursery has had to update its contact phone number I was going through all of my saved sites and ended up coming across one that I did not know about.

This is an advert of sorts, I'm guessing but I have no clue who added it, posted it or when it even happened. Advertising is always a good thing, free advertising is even better so I'm thinking that I will just leave it be. The contact information is incorrect of course but it does send one to the Nursery's website and it does have an email address that will get messages to me.

So, ummmmmm..... thank you to whomever added my wee Nursery to the Visit Yellowknife website.

It's all about the little things!

Never to be stagnant...isn't that the trick to keeping people interested in what you do?

Somedays I really feel that I have a love/hate relationship with Blogger but only when it comes to positioning photos!! I have tried my best to make sure that everything lines up, why, because that's the way I like to view a page. Now Blogger seems to always have something else in mind for me.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

So, with that in mind...I have updated a few of the tabs. Well, mainly added and deleted photos as Blogger would allow me to.

So for all newcomers to my blog...please snoop around, get to know the place. I always welcome suggestions and ideas of what you would like to see.

I have noticed that a lot of the bloggers that I follow have started to take on advertisers. In fact, I am even paying to advertise on their blogs!! Wait a minute here...something doesn't seem to add up, I am paying to advertise my own products on someone else's blog?? Okay, in my own defence to my accountant...they do happen to have a LOT of followers. My blog has mainly been, well, for me. Maybe one day it will get to the point that I will have enough interest in what I do here in the nursery to warrant me asking others to pay to advertise here but until then...this rant is for me (and Blogger, if they are listening!!).

New Magazine Ad

I decided to keep my second ad with the Faerie Magazine (issue #25) quite simple and similar to my first one (issue #24).

I love the new idea of having a space to feature my current favourite style of Faerie.

What do you think? Do you like the simple look?

The Ad, The Look, The Feel...The New

So....this is the ad that I submitted to Kim at the Faerie Magazine. She is the one that I originally wanted to advertise with but everything went haywire last year with her company after the sad passing of her mother. I have decided to spend my remaining advertising budget dollars with her in the hopes that she can get out a quality product. As this IS my target audience in the end I decided it is where I needed to be. I did look into advertising on-line with various newspapers across Alberta and BC but nothing just seemed to be working right. As well, I did look into advertising with a Canadian garden magazine but unfortunately they were all way out of my league as far as budgets go (1/8 b&w page ran over $5000.00!!!).

I guess, I am asking everyone for their thoughts and opinions on the new look but in the end...the ad is already sent and the deadline has come and gone so I will be unable to make any further changes. I did make an arrangement with Kim for my second ad to be 50% off so if through suggestions, I can certainly change the look or feel come the next time around. The previous ad that Alyssa made for me was fantastic and showed everything that I made at the time which is how I needed people to know that I my company was out there. This new ad is more sleek, clean and hopefully mysterious enough that people will either scan the QR code or look up the website address due to the vagueness of the whole thing.

Under the suggestions of all of us, Larry, Matthew and Brandi the stump island photo was developed (well, Matthew disagreed with the whole stump idea as he noted that I am not in the business of selling stumps...I commented back with...well not yet!!). The look we were hoping to achieve was one that showed a faerie door and perhaps if you looked you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a faerie in amongst the flowers and grasses. I think Schonee did an amazing job of capturing a mystical playground for the faeries.

With the company ever evolving and changing, this ad will allow me to add and subtract products without changing the look and feel of the new backgrounds. The stump island photo is now on every banner for all 6 of my e-commerce sites as well as the website, Facebook and my blog page. All printed material is in the process of being changed over as well. We stayed with the original company colours of eggplant purple and green which means none of my packaging products will need to be changed which helped with expenses.

Thanks for reading and please respond if you have any suggestions...

As Seen In??

I have had my web designer put in a few new sections on the website!   Faerie Nursery

I had this daunting feeling that no one would ever know if my website was ever active or not the way it had been set up. Unless you followed each and every faerie that I ever posted onto the site through Etsy or Flickr it would look like my website was never updated or used and that is not a good thing!

I did have my Twitter feed right on the front page but I do know some people do not use Twitter or wouldn't even know to look on the right hand side of the page for updates. Unfortunately that is where a lot of websites keep their advertisement sections...not in my case...it was actually the only way viewers could see if I was active or not.

So...the new stuff..

We now have an ongoing NEWS section right on the front page. I will try my best to keep this updated every two weeks or so. Figured what better way to let people know what was going on in the nursery if they weren't added on Facebook or Twitter. Shawn has just been awesome with all of his suggestions and assistance. As this will be a server requirement and one that I will not be able to update on my own...he has again...said that he will update as I send him my new news.

Subject Titles....done in a clean white colour while all of my news is done is the softer grey tone to allow easier reading and not such a strain on the eyes.

I have also now added just under the Twitter feed where you can physically see my products and where I have advertised. I thought that this might help verify my commitment to my little company. I will continue to advertise in some of these magazines and have a few new exciting ideas on where to advertise next in the New Year.

I hope that you will each check out the website for updated news and also to look into each category of faeries, nurseries and suites as I am always adding new product.

The Little Tweaks Make All The Difference

Shawn did a few extra tweaks to my blog site for me. We now have a link to all of my other cyberspace  places where I share what is happening with the Faerie Nursery and ME!

We also included a link to the Faery World Magazine. Even though I have only advertised with them once, they did include a full biography and pictures of me and mentioned me on their Facebook page a few times. To me, they went over and beyond what a magazine company usually does for their advertising client. So if you get a chance please check out their page link on the bottom right-hand side of my blog.
