A Clean Mess

i think that the nursery is finally starting to look clean although a few things just might need a bit tending to yet so i do believe that it's list time ~
  • the cobwebs have new cobwebs spun upon them with again new ones again on top of that with another whole layer on top of that although i will say that it's a good thing spiders like to spin their silk in different shades of paint as it certainly does add splash of colour ~ blicky ~ but then colour none the less
  • the dirt pile that was once swept into the corner has upped and managed to find the dustpan itself
  • or how about the ivy that was in such a knotted jumbled mess that it figured out how to actually dance the twist
  • what about trying to erase the pretty pictures that have been drawn on the scattered note pads
  • and then who could forget the tumbleweeds mixed in with the beads that roll aimlessly across the floor ~ i will note though that i have absolutely no idea where tumbleweeds might have come from here in the nursery
  • oh yeah ~ and what about the ball of yarn that had turned itself inside out only to find another knot on the end that was in a different colour
  • then there was that really really really really long purple thread that somehow came across spools of green and pink and yellow threads and the wrapped them so tightly together that they will never be able to be separated
  • how do water the silk flowers that have taken root on the floor
  • what about the coloured markers that have long since dried up but are still so extremely smelly that we use them as incense to keep the nursery smelling fruity
  • and how on earth do you pour the food colouring dyes back into their own matching coloured bottles
that's quite the list and i do know that it will only grow longer and longer as how do you expect to get anything done with a nursery full of faeries?

They were left alone....

Yes, I will take full blame for this one as I had to leave the nursery for a few days. But but but, in my own defence...I did make sure that Sapphire the Pixie lock the faerie dust cabinet so I knew that wouldn't be a problem....I asked Faerie Mia to look after all of the flower petals.....I asked Fae Bella to look after the beads....and I asked Pixie Jinx to look after the paint. I figured I had pretty well everything covered. NOPE! I had forgotten about the yarn buckets! At least they kept the mess centralized except for the odd ball or two that managed to roll off of the table. And yes, if you look close enough...that is me, Faerie Amma right in the middle!!

The Appointment?

Well after almost a week of giggling and whispering it seems that the faeries here at the nursery have made a wonderful decision.

Due to my constant complaining (I know, how can you complain when you spend your days working with faeries?? TRUST ME!!) the faeries decided to have a meeting. Now this is truly a very big deal. Faeries shall we say are not exactly the type to sit around a conference table and make friendly chit chat let alone make any decisions. That's just not the faerie way. They are more like oooohhhhh the sugar in that bowl is kinda like sparkly when the sun beams hit it just the right way.....and then it kinda really looks like faerie dust so lets have a party :) Yay...that's more of what my days are like.

So I will give them credit where credit is due...they all got together and made a decision. And in a very quiet voice she says....but you should have seen the mess afterwards! I swear there were more tea dishes to wash and have you ever tried to get faerie dust off of a teacup that has dried tea drops covered in faerie dust? Lets just say I had the sparkliest dish water ever seen.

Now, onto the decision. Again since I seem to do an awful lot of complaining when it comes to this whole faerie dust situation the faeries thought that maybe they should help me out. Don't really think they understood the whole thing since in retrospect it is them making the mess...but never mind....an appointment has been made.

Earlier on in the week the faeries whispered that they had thought that the nursery required a 'Keeper of the Faerie Dust'. Woo Hoo.....finally I will get some help around here (oops...did I say that out loud...I will pay for that I just know it!).

A Keeper of the Faerie Dust what a wonderful title and what a most difficult position that will be. If I can't control these silly ole faeries who can?

I really didn't know how you would go about appointing a faerie to an actual position but they decided it would be best to have a member of the Clay Potters take on the job. As the Clay Potters are a permanent fixture here in the nursery that certainly made perfect sense to me as most of the wee faeries here are either on a stopover or just trying to figure out where they would like to move to.

So yesterday I came down to the nursery to find MORE faerie dust but this time it was different, it wasn't EVERYWHERE? There on the table was a 'pile' of blue faerie dust?? This in itself was very odd for these tricksters. What fun is there in making just a pile of faerie dust? But there was a message waiting there for me. Wow, the faeries had made me a note during the night and so not to miss it they left me this....

And here she is.....I would like you all to meet Sapphire the Pixie our newly appointed Keeper of the Faerie Dust. Congratulations Sapphire :)

The Clay Potters....arghhhhhh

Okay, after what is this now....4 prototypes, I still can't just get the look I want for the faerie boys!

My biggest problem seems to be the body part itself. I have tried large beads (you know the ones that used to be used for macramé), seed pods that hubby dearest drilled arm and legs wholes for, smaller beads arghhhhhhh.

For their arms and legs I have tried moss covered wire, paper wrapped wire, just plain old think wire and finally I used yarn to wrap them with....now I have incredible hulks lol. So.....that at least was an easy fix...I am just using yarn like floss and I can say that I love the way it looks...plus this will allow me to actually have boys that are of different colours.

Belts? Should they have belts? I have awesome natural dyed hemp cording that looks awesome but when I tie it around their waists...well it doesn't look so good as it does in my head! Insert another arghhhhhh here :)

Hair? How impossible could this type of decision be?? I have lots of different styles of acorn caps or even using the plastic parts from all of the flowers (but mind you....can't figure out what to use to cover up the hole at the top...still working on this). I have tried yarn, floss, the inside plastic stuff from the flowers (you know...its what makes flowers look bulky...usually clear with lots of little tentacle like things coming from the centre), to even using natural moss. How could boy heads be this hard (ahhh just answered my own question there...sorry...oops to any men reading this blog...lol)? On some of the bodies that I have made, no hair looks awesome...so I think the whole head dilemma will have to wait till the body is finalized.

I also went as far as picking out material that I could use as a wee little shirt and cropped pants....but but but...their legs were soooo spindly looking that I gave up that idea as well. Perhaps with the new wire wrapping technique, I should revisit this idea.

I don't think that I have allowed myself or my work table get this frustrated and messy in a long time!!

So here I sit with little boys all around me and not one that I could say...that's it...that's the type I want to use. Insert another arghhhhhh here :)

Back to the drawing board...AGAIN!

And the Mystery Continues?

A bit a go, I had a mishap with the nursery. Yes, actually I think you could call it a complete disaster!!

It seems that when left alone too long....well let's just say, Faeries will be Faeries. Figure that should sum everything up just nicely.

This was a posting that I made on my Facebook page Faerie Nursery Facebook

Oh Oh!! The Faerie Nursery has been found in such a disarray that I don't even know where to start! There seems to be faerie dust EVERYWHERE! Even the dust bunnies are covered in faerie dust! How does that happen?? So while having to make some rhyme or reason out of everything that had happened, I heard the little faeries laughing and they were calling me the strangest name? Once they finally calmed down I was able to figure out what they were trying to say. According to the faeries, they have decided that I am to be blessed with a new name. It was actually quite the event....with faerie dust everywhere (I feel so bad...I sneezed half way through...I couldn't help myself...thankfully they just giggled even more!), I am now to introduce myself as Faerie Amma. So to all of my wonderful followers....meet the new me... Faerie Amma :)

Well since then...there has been no stopping these wee little critters from doing just what they want to do! I have no say in anything anymore. They have COMPLETELY taken over.

Rumour has it now that there is going to be a new group of friends joining us here at the nursery? Now, granted this has only been whispers and mumblings but I, myself believe it to be true.

The Faeries have decided that it is time to start a book on their adventures that they have been having (and will have....I can't imagine what else they could possibly get into). So with that being said, the new faeries should be arriving I figure before Christmas! I know, how could that be? With the holiday season being as busy as it is...how can I get ready for even MORE guests in the nursery?

So now I have done what I have been told to do.....the mystery still alludes me but each day brings more information to light. As I find out more...I will stay in touch and let you know what I find out.
