Christmas Wreaths of 2020

Each year the Nursery makes fresh Christmas Wreaths to give away and donate to friends and the local community.

This time around, I made 12, including one for our own door. That means I had a MASSIVE sparkle party in my own kitchen. Usually I can do this project all in one evening but 12 was just a few too many so it took me a whole 2 evenings to decorate them all. I did however learn a few things from the past few years, like how to contain as many sparkles in one area and how NOT to spread them all throughout the house. So, I came up with an ingenious plan to tape plastic tablecloths onto the kitchen cupboards. This worked perfectly as we have a galley shaped kitchen. Mind you, with two woof woofs, a Hubby Dearest, myself and the FAERIES we still did an amazing job of making the house all glittery.

Each year I make our wreath just a bit different than the rest. I decided to go with a rose-gold theme and I think it was one of the best ones I've ever made and we were really happy with how it turned out.

So between shades of reds, cream, white, gold, green and silver these wreaths went beyond me expectations. Each wreath had Christmas scented pinecones that would waif into the air and of course wee bells that would ring each time a door was opened or closed. One thing that I did add in this year were lights!! Either pinecones or mesh wired balls in gold or silver made the sparkles dance in the evening light. It was so beautiful to drive down the street and see all of the wreaths I had made lit up.

It was just this past weekend that I had all of the wreaths returned to me so it was time to cover up the kitchen and take them all apart to save the flowers and decorations for next year. As each wreath was dropped off or picked up, the recipients had nothing but praise, amazement and a glitter in their eye. It took me a full two evenings to make all twelve wreaths and only one afternoon to store everything away.

Now it wouldn't be right if I didn't take orders for next year. Surprisingly enough, the most asked for colour was BLUE! Yes, blue. Second would be metallics and then follows all of the regular traditional colours of reds, greens creams and whites. So, I have already ordered over 200 blue silk poinsettia flowers and now almost daily there seems to be a parcel or two waiting for us at the post box. It's like getting a present everyday! Mind you, my shopping doesn't stop now as I'll be busy looking for sparkly decorations all throughout the year.

So, which one was your favourite? Do you prefer the traditional look of reds and greens or are you a bit more daring and you like pinks, purples and blues?

This was our first (of hopefully many) class

Not too bad if I say so myself.

Thank you Ruthie & Doug for a fun day.

The Expedition of a Faerie Prince!

It is always such a privilege when I find out that one of my wee faeries has been picked for an Etsy Treasury.

I was sent an email yesterday informing me that Faerie Prince Cameron has made the front page! Such exciting news for such a wee little guy.

This is his story...

Faerie Prince Cameron is somewhat of a mystery here in the nursery. he showed up on a clear and sunny day this winter, which really isn't a strange occurrence but it is when he had brought with him that leaves us all wondering how on earth he found this far-away northern nursery. In his acorn basket, Prince Cameron is carrying an Amber Drop Cone which after doing our homework, we found out comes from the Pacific Northwest of the United States? He has flown a long long long way to arrive here in our nursery.

He is sporting a soft silver coloured body with a rich olive green coloured cotton floss. Matching silvery translucent wings, an acorn cap and basket made from an acorn top with an amber drop cone nestled inside.

I would like to thank Annafaerie for her Treasury of True Fairy #940. Interesting gifts for different occasions.

Faerie Amma - Jewellery Part I

Well, being a Faerie and a Goddess, you certainly do get to pick out the most amazing jewellery that is befitting the position.

I will be doing the next few blogs on the photos of the jewellery that I have found have inspired, energized and moved me. Each piece has been handmade for me and that makes them even more precious. Each set has been worn by me as Faerie Amma...and well...as me as well!

Presentation Time

I would like you all to meet Heather :)

Her name was the petal drawn from the basket (by my hubby) to win Faerie Nutmeg.

It is sad to see her leave the nursery but I am happy that she has found a new and happy forever home :)

Congratulations again Heather.

Jewelled Wings

With more on the way....the nursery is now surrounded by sparkly, jewelled delicate butterfly wings. My only wish is that they were real but these will do. As I mentioned previously, I want to have the feel of the Teacup Nurseries to be whimsical and very exaggerated. So your teacup will have the tiniest of a wee little faerie house and it will be surrounded by trees and flowers and bugs and mushrooms and butterflies and....well the list can just go on and on and on....and on as far as my imagination can take it actually.

So here they are.....90 of the prettiest little butterflies that are no bigger than an inch.....

Sugarplums Dancing in Your Head.....

Well, I have almost finished my Sugarplum Faerie pendants. All I need to do now is solder the hoops closed. I am extremely happy with how they turned out!

Hanging by a Thread

Well actually by a jump ring!!

Here is another spacer bead that I can use to hang my Sugarplum Faerie pendants from. These ones have a little daisy flower stamped on them. (The others had a star, please review my blog post from March 17).

Faerie Charms

These are quite different from the first set of Faerie charms that I ordered. These ones a bit smaller but they are 3D and they have quite a bit of weight to them.

Here is a side by side view of the previously ordered Faerie (left) and the new one that arrived today (right).  As you can see, the new one is quite a bit smaller but has more dimension.

Tiny Little Soldiers All In A Row

Well if lined up....who knows how far they would go! I received the last of Lois7374 (ebay) stash of little Nutcracker Prince charms, 98 of them in total!! This should complete all that I need to make the wine glass charms for this theme and if not....Lois said she would order more in for me  :)

Sugarplum Faerie Pendant Components

Slowly but surely, all the little bits and pieces are arriving to make the Sugarplum Faerie pendants.

Today from Moonbaby1962 (ebay) I received the little silver caps and a string of very soft pink imitation pearl beads. Unfortunately I think the pearls will be too big for this project....but no worries, they will get used :)

A work in progress....

Leading a CHARMED life

Okay, now I am definitely going to need a work bench in a 'cat' free zone for all of these beads.

This is what was in today's parcel from moonbaby1962 (ebay).

I do believe I now have all the hoops that will be needed to complete this years wine glass charms. As this particular supplier did not have any more silver hoops I decided to purchase a few packages of the gold as well.

I also received the seed beads for this project. I decided to go with the jewel-toned beads...why...cause I like them better than the pastels :)

And as a little bonus from the seller....
